GRIYA UTAMA · THE MAIN HOUSE

A house built for rest,
beneath a mountain of a roof

The joglo at the heart of the estate: teak, stained glass, and a long habit of keeping guests warm.

THE STORY

Why a joglo
stands here

griya pusaka · a heritage house

A joglo is the house of a Javanese family of standing. Its roof rises like a mountain; its four soko guru columns hold the sky. This one was raised here on the slope of the real mountain, and over the years pavilions, a glasshouse and gardens grew up around it.

It is still a lived-in house. The art on the walls is collected, not decorated; the recipes belong to the kitchen; and the person answering your WhatsApp knows every corner of the place.

"Sapa teka, dulur teka."
